What are Micronutrients?
It is called micronutrients because your body needs it in lesser quantity vs macronutrients like carbs, fats and protein for example.
You can absorb micronutrients by manly eating food. Which is why it is important to include it in your diet, and make sure you eat enough quantity.
According to research up to 40% of adults are deficient on micronutrients.
Micronutrients are vitamins and minerals. They are key for a balanced diet.
There are four types of Micronutrients:
- Water-soluble vitamins: they dissolve with water like vitamin B5 (which we talk earlier), Vitamin C. The vitamin B12 is slightly different as it does not get stored in the body so it’s important to get a regular intake and it gets flush.
- Fat-soluble vitamins: As the name says, they are dissolved with fats and will be store in your liver. Example are Vitamin A, D, E, and K. They have anti-inflammatory effect and help boost the immune system. You can find them in Cauliflower for example and other leafy greens.
- Microminerals: These will be minerals like magnesium, sodium, and potassium. Which can be found in lentils, banana.
- Trace Mineral: There are copper, zinc, selenium, iron, and manganese. Used to fee oxygen to muscles, help supporting your nervous system, healing wounds (copper peptide!), defending against damage from stress. Can be found in cashew nuts, spinach, oysters.
